It’s popular for viewing the Bwindi Moutain Gorillas which are endangered and makeup almost half of the Mountain Gorillas population left in the world. Here is home to over four hundred species of plants and almost over three hundred fifty species of birds. The Bwindi Impenetrable Park is open all year round for individuals to watch, learn, and to enjoy a beautiful experience.

Redwood National and State Park in California

The Redwood National and State Park is located in the United States in the state of California. This National Park is mostly known for having the tallest trees on Earth. With these large tall trees come along with many animals that depend on the trees to feed, provide shelter, and protect them throughout the year. Saying that about one-third of the country’s bird population is located here. Out of eight hundred different species, two hundred eighty species of birds thrive here. Some birds that may be spotted while touring the park could be owls, woodpeckers, flycatchers, warblers, thrushes and also jays. Redwood is also home to some of the world’s most beautiful wildflowers. During this time of the year, Milkmaids are very common to be found during January through May in woody moist areas. These flowers can be seen as having white or faint pink petals and can grow in shocks anywhere between four to about fifteen inches.

Black History Month – Ruby Bridges

Image result for the first black girl in a white school

In the 1950’s segregation was unfortunately still practiced by society. Ruby’s family moved to New Orleans where she attended a segregated Kindergarten class.  Many southerners did not want to have integrated schools but one-day a school board wanted to see how African-American students’ educational and learning skills competed against the Caucasian students’ learning abilities. The school board delayed her starting date with the other children so she began school in November. Finally, the day had come where she made history by being the first African-American to attend an all-white school. Ruby and her mom were escorted into the school due to the fact they needed protection against those who did not approve on her arrival. Many people stood outside the school when she got there screaming and yelling of racial slurs. Someone even was seen holding a black baby doll in a coffin and stared at Ruby until she entered the building. Ruby was not socially accepted. She spent her first day in the principal’s office and the rest of the year by herself with the only teacher that was willing to teach her. Many white parents pulled their kids out the school permanently to avoid contact with her. Others admired her bravery and commitment at such a young age. Some people from the North sent money and other gifts to her family to help out since the town started to turn against them. This is important for Black History Month because it’s a clear visual of unwanted change in society at that time and encouraged others to be different and explore out their comfort zone to be great.

2017 Superbowl Commercials

Every year businesses pay thousands of dollars just to have a couple of seconds to advertise their businesses. These commercials are crucial because they get the most views and have a wide variety of people to present to.

The purpose of this video was to convince get people who drive or plan to start to drive that they should purchase the 2017 Kia Niro. The audience of this commercial would definitely target people who care about the environment or that are interested in making the Earth a better place for both man and animal. This commercial used a major social issue to shocked the audience and make their point for their sales to increase.

The purpose of this advertisement was to promote their hair products.  The audience of this commercial would be people who are struggling to find their own hair regimen or who is trying to find new products to try. This commercial used President Trump’s bad hair as an example why people should use their line of hair products. The commercial states that we’ll have 4 years of bad hair so I’m sure that’s who they’re referring too. This possible could also speak to Hillary’s supporters because of its sort of bashes Donald Trump’s name.

The purpose of this commercial is to promote people to eat healthier by consuming pistachios. The audience of this commercial would be anyone who enjoy eating healthy or pistachios. The audience could also be overweight people who want to enjoy a delicious snack while still being healthy. It’s other audience could have been gym junkies who love to work out. This commercial used an elephant I think because they are becoming extinct and that has some people’s attention. I also think they used the elephant because it’s big and heavy so it can represent an overweight person exercising to lose weight.

Play-Doh Doh Doh Doh

For my Play-Doh creation, I chose to create a paw print. I chose a paw print because I really love spending time with animals. When I grow up I want to become a veterinarian so I can help animals which is pretty general but that’s what I want to do. Ever since I was little I always wanted a dog but I couldn’t have one because my dad and I both have allergies. In 2010 on Christmas I finally got my first dog. He was a 3-month old  Yorkie-Terrier named Buddy. I had him for about two years and lost him about a hundred times. One day I came home and my dad said that Buddy had run away and wasn’t really at the vet. He said that Buddy was gone for a couple of days and he would start putting up signs because it didn’t look good. I thought for sure we were going to find him like we always do but he was gone for good this time. We were sad but eventually moved on.  A couple years had passed and I still missed Buddy but I really wanted a dog again. I started asking my dad for another dog but he wouldn’t budge. I pretty much gave up on getting another dog until one day I was running on the trail by my house and I saw a dog tied up to a tree with a sign that said: “Please take me ); I need a home.”  I knew I was going to get into trouble but I couldn’t just leave her there. That story is the lie I told my parents to keep her if it wasn’t obvious. But honestly, if I told my parents I got the dog from my friend on snapchat because they couldn’t keep her I’m pretty sure they would have taken her to the shelter while I was at school. Moral of these stories is I want to spend the rest of my life interacting with animals instead of humans.

This activity can relate to the writing process because it helps us brainstorm without an outline and find creative ways to relate to the given audience.

Current Social Issue: Abortion

Abortion is one of America’s largest controversial topic known to man. Religious views have a huge impact on the side people tend to lean on. You can be for Pro-Life meaning that you are anti-abortion and you are involved in advocating against abortion and it being legal, or you could be Pro-Choice meaning that you believe that abortion should be legal and advocate for abortion.  In some cases such as rape, incest, or death in mother or child 6% out of 38% Pro-Life gives sympathy to the decision while some still believe that the mother should still carry the child no matter what the circumstance was or is. In Illinois, 35% is Pro-Life while 68% is Pro-Choice. 2% of the Pro-choice is against abortion if the mother has been pregnant for more than 3 months.  In Chicago, only 28% is Pro-Life and 72% of the voting is Pro-Choice. Abortion varies with ethnicities too. 42% of Whites are Pro-Life while 58% are Pro-Choice. For Blacks, only 37% are Pro-Life while 63% is Pro-Choice.  For Native Americans, 42% are Pro-Life but 58% are Pro-Choice. For Pacific Islanders, 41% are Pro-Life while 59% is Pro-Choice. The pole for the Asian ethnicity is 30% is Pro-Life while a huge contrast of 70% is pro-Choice. Unfortunately, this website doesn’t state a poll for Hispanics. In Illinois, 35% are Pro-Life while 65% are Pro-Choice. This shows that everyone has a different opinion and I believe it’s fair to leave it this way.

Word Cloud

I  chose these words to describe me because of what I’ve been through. My family and friends are what motivates me to get up every morning and be the person I am. Every day is a new chance for me to face a new challenge and make either the best or worst of it.

Health & Medicine Expierence

I am a Junior at Joliet West High School who is currently enrolled in the Health and Medicine Academy. I was, unfortunately, absent on November 18th, 2016 which was the day my class had the opportunity to listen and ask questions about some of the professions found in the medical field. But I do know that opportunities such as these are really helpful when trying to narrow down the success of our future as young adolescents.  Through presentations like these, I learned that I want to be happy and that what I do should be considered a career and not a job. Through this I now know I want to be a veterinarian and help educate owners on how to take care of their pets. I believe that we should continue presentations like these, but let us sign up in ones we are genuinely interested in.

THANK YOU FOR THXGIVING!

To be honest, Thanksgiving is just a day for food. I would be lying if said my family goes around the table saying “This Thanksgiving I’m thankful…yadda yadda yadda”  When really we just say grace, and dive in. Every year I used to go to St. Louis where my grandma’s family originated, but people decided not to come and become cheap so now we just have it in Joliet. My dad works this thanksgiving and me rather not be bothered with a thousand questions from family members I don’t know so I think I’m going solo this year. I’m going to my grandma’s house before anyone gets there and making myself a feast of a plate, then I’m going to my other grandmother’s house and doing the same. Like they said, first come, first serve. But anyway, this year I’m thankful for my privileged life, and everything that laid in front of me. I’m especially thankful for baked macaroni and cheese.Image result for soul food baked mac and cheese

Veterans Day

In honor of Veterans Day its important that we educate ourselves about the men and woman that basically give up their lives to serve for the future of America. Some people sometimes get confused with difference Veterans Day and Memorial Day. Veterans Day is a day we take off to respect and honor those who have served and are currently serving. While Memorial Day is a national holiday where we spend time to thank and respect those who lost their lives fight for our country. Either way both days are equally important and should be acknowledged. Veterans are great men and woman in this country and are greatly appreciated.
